You Are Not Alone

80 Million Americans Experience Hereditary Hair Loss

About 80 million men and women in the United States have hereditary hair loss — yet most causes of hair loss can be addressed or treated when diagnosed appropriately. A proper diagnosis is the foundation of an effective treatment plan.

At Eternal Hair, your free consultation includes a comprehensive scalp and medical assessment. Dr. Tawfik and his team will identify the cause, grade the severity, and recommend a personalized plan with transparent pricing — no pressure to commit.

What We Assess

How We Diagnose Your Hair Loss

A complete diagnosis requires more than looking at the scalp. Our team reviews:

  • Family history — genetic patterns of hair loss on both sides
  • Medical history — conditions known to affect hair follicles
  • Medications — many medications cause or accelerate hair loss
  • Physical scalp examination — follicle density, scalp condition, donor area
  • Blood tests — hormones, thyroid function, iron levels, vitamin deficiencies
  • Scalp biopsy — when inflammatory or autoimmune causes are suspected

Measuring Hair Loss Severity

How We Grade Your Hair Loss

Norwood Scale (Men)

  • 7-stage scale for male pattern baldness
  • Stage I–III: Early hairline recession
  • Stage IV–V: Significant crown and front thinning
  • Stage VI–VII: Extensive loss, only side/back hair remains
  • Used to determine transplant candidacy and graft requirements

Ludwig Scale (Women)

  • 3-stage scale for female pattern thinning
  • Stage I: Mild thinning at part line
  • Stage II: Widening part line, visible scalp
  • Stage III: Diffuse thinning, very sparse coverage
  • Used to assess severity and guide treatment approach
For Transplant Candidates

Three Implantation Distribution Zones

1

Anterior Zone

The frontal hairline and temples — typically the first area of focus for natural-looking frame restoration.

2

Mid-Scalp Zone

The crown and top of the head — density here creates the appearance of full coverage.

3

Posterior Zone

The back of the scalp — donor area and recipient zone for comprehensive restoration.

Meet The Team

Meet Our Medical Directors

Every patient at Eternal Hair & Esthetics is treated by a physician-led team. Our medical directors lead two specialist divisions, hair restoration and esthetics, and review every plan personally.

Dr. Tamir Tawfik, MD, Medical Director of Hair Restoration

Dr. Tawfik leads our hair restoration division, specializing in advanced minimally invasive techniques like DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) and DFI (Direct Follicle Implantation) for results that look natural and blend seamlessly with each patient’s features.

Every plan is tailored to the individual, because hair restoration is as much about restoring confidence and sense of self as it is about hair.

Dr. Bader Elder, DO, Medical Director of Esthetics

Dr. Elder leads our esthetic division with deep experience in Botox, dermal fillers, and skin rejuvenation, combining precision and artistry to enhance each patient’s natural beauty.

His patient-first philosophy puts the client’s goals at the center of every treatment, so the result is feeling more confident in your own skin, not someone else’s.

Frequently Asked

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens at a diagnosis consultation?
A free, private, unhurried appointment. Dr. Tawfik reviews your medical and family history, examines your scalp, assesses your donor area, and recommends a personalized treatment plan with transparent pricing. No commitment required.
What tests are done?
Typically a physical scalp examination and review of family and medical history. Blood tests and scalp biopsies are ordered when the cause is not clear from the examination alone.
What do the Norwood and Ludwig scales mean?
They are standardized grading systems to measure hair loss severity — Norwood for men, Ludwig for women. The grade helps determine which treatments are appropriate and how many grafts would be needed for a transplant.
What if my hair loss is not hereditary?
Non-hereditary causes (thyroid, iron deficiency, stress, medications) are often fully reversible once the underlying cause is addressed. Our team will identify the cause and recommend the appropriate medical or treatment approach.
