Finasteride is the only FDA-approved oral medication for androgenic alopecia. It works by blocking the enzyme (5-alpha reductase) that converts testosterone into DHT — the hormone responsible for follicle miniaturization.
A daily 1mg pill reduces DHT by up to 70% in serum and 60% in the scalp. Requires 3+ months of consistent daily use before visible results. If stopped, DHT levels rise again and hair loss will resume.

What is Finasteride?

What are the side effects?
